Softwood gates are available pre-treated.

CCA Treated Green Softwood Gates have been pressure treated using a Rentokil solution and have a life expectancy of approx. 15 years. We strongly recommend that regular coats of a vapour permeable wood stain be applied to enhance the appearance as the gate will discolour and weather if untreated.

Clear Protim 418 Treated Softwood Gates have been ‘enveloped sealed’ with a clear Protim Pre-vac solution, a protective base coat during transport. This also protects against decay and insect attack but must be treated prior to hanging with a vapour permeable wood stain such as Cuprinol or Sadolin.

Hardwood Gates should be treated with 2 – 3 coats of a vapour permeable wood stain prior to hanging. The timber will weather unless regularly treated.
