Gate styles available from Charltons

Charltons are a leading manufacturer of wooden gates with many years of experience. Established in 1903 Charltons have been proud Royal Warrant holders for over 15 years. Gates are constructed using time honoured construction methods to ensure a long service life.

Charlton manufactures from its idyllic Somerset location and supplies nationwide. There are many available styles of gate, from the simple garden Palisade gate to the most impressive Manor Courtyard gate. Wooden gates are generally divided into groups according to their eventual location.

Courtyard Gates
Courtyard gates offer additional privacy and are usually 1.8m high, although other heights are available and Charltons also offer a Made to Measure service to ensure a perfect fit for your entrance.

Driveway Gates
Gates used for residential entrances can either be high specification 5 bar gates or dedicated drive gates such as the Mendip. They are usually 0.9m or 1.2m high. Charltons best selling drive gate is the Somerset which is a high specification 5 bar gate with stainless steel fixings and chamfered rails.

Country Gates
Charlton is famous for the traditional 5 bar field gate and is the leading supplier to the independent sector. The Forester and Somerfield are leaders in the field (sorry!). Charlton have a 50 year history of manufacturing field gates and all are made at the Buckland Down site in Somerset.

Garden Gates / Side Gates
Charltons have a wide range of garden gates to appeal to the discerning buyer. Garden gates are generally 0.9m wide by 0.9m high, although all Charlton garden gates are available in other sizes.

Side gates are generally 0.9m wide by 1.75m high and are termed ‘side’ due to their most common location by the side of the dwelling. Other sizes are available and many different styles.

Unique gates can also be manufactured to your individual specification through the Charlton Bespoke Service. This is particularly relevant where the gate required is on a listed property where an exact replacement is required - fax through your requirements and we'll see if we can help.
